North West Switzerland – a land of secrets
If the Eurasian and African continental plates hadn’t shifted, then parts of the north west of Switzerland would be a divers paradise. But they moved and the earth rippled, taking the seabed with it. Today the sea’s no longer there, leaving in its place a fantastic vista, littered with places of power. The churches and monasteries, all sanctuaries of stillness, a landscape full of secrets, scores of Roman ruins, and the Belchen, part of the Belchen Triangle, are just a few of the numerous mythical places to be found in our region.
In no time at all you can reach the places of power hemmed in between the Rhine and the Jura. Surrounded by acres of unspoilt countryside, you find the city. Basle is a melting pot of local rural and global urban influences. Towering over the Rhine and reaching far out into the region is the magnificent Cathedral, standing where once Celts and Romans lived.
You are warmly invited to explore the secrets of our region and its mythical places. You’ll be surprised!
